A 21st Centure Soul Club

The Mercury Lounge has been a Mecca for the arts in Canada's capital city of Ottawa, since its inception in November 1996. Its programming purports a musical vision steeped in the traditions of jazz and yet forward in its approach to encompass all its many derivatives. Through its dynamic programming, the Mercury Lounge has successfully connected the dots, uniting jazz with contemporary electronic break beat culture. Within its walls the very philosophy of jazz, that of change, abounds. It serves not only as a club, and live venue, but also for poetry readings, dance performances and art gallery.

Mercury Lounge is a space where the underlying philosophy of jazz, that of change, is clearly in evidence. It is a club without parameters, bringing forth a mandate that showcases new musical visions that defy boundaries and conventional limitations. Ever pushing the doors of change, the Mercury Lounge ambitiously looks to the future, not to preach a style but rather a lifestyle based on progressive excursions through 21st century music, culture and art.

In 2009 Mercury Lounge combined and connected with the two clubs below it - The Collection and Bar 56 to merge into one entity forming one of Ottawa's largest clubbing scenes.

It's artistic and creative mandate has been cultivated by a dedicated collective of individuals, at its early inception by DJs Trevor Walker and Lance Baptiste.

Many people have been involved in ensuring it's legacy and most notably everyone who has ever come through its doors.
