Richard Truhlar is a pioneering poet, fictioneer, visual artist, text/sound/musical composer and performer. Truhlar was an active member of the sound poetry group Owen Sound. Since 1987, he has worked as the producer/manager of the Centrediscs recording label of the Canadian Music Centre.

Internationally recognized text-sound performance artist, Gerry Shikatani enacts a multi-media performance on June 3rd. Shikatani has published several volumes of poetry, a book of fiction as well as writings on gastronomy and travel. A book of his essays on cuisine is soon due for publication. He has been publishing and exhibiting visual poetry for decades.

Kellylee Evans has the beautifully casual phrasing of a jazz singer, the lusty come-on of a soul singer, and the tunes of a pop star in waiting. Evans commands the stage with a regal and casual confidence. Now some may peg this Ottawa chanteuse as smooth jazz, but her funky arrangements, urban slant, and lyrics that question and incite, make Evans stand out. Her first album Fight Or Flight was jazz by default; she had been doing jazz standards up to that point and all the musicians she knew ran in that world. But her latest, Good Girl finds the lady flexing slightly beyond the jazz, but waxing just as cool as ever.

After their remarkable performances at the Francofolies de Montréal and the Coup de Coeur Francophone, this colorful duo takes us to a place where electro, rock and soul collide. These two performers, Don Hamel (Gatineau and Motus 3F) and Sabrina Sabotage (also a chorister for Gatineau), accompanied by an orange guitar and a vintage Casio, want to swing the hips and hearts when the beat begins, when their lips collide and sounds gushes; the human beat-box rattles the speakers, the bass and goove submerges the audience, a titanic guitar and a distorted Casio sound out and all the while the sweet voices of a man and woman glow with sex-appeal. CHOP WOOD Amsterdam based genre-defying singer-songwriter electric-folk-soul. Chop Wood is a solo project by Coparck frontman Odilo Girod. His debut solo album is a mix of electronic and acoustic songs written mostly at night due to his sleeplessnes and insomnia. A diverse batch of eclectic atmospheres sparked with angular remoteness, vivid dreamlike sequences and sweet caustic electricity. Songs about sleepless nights, the strangest thoughts and weird and wonderful dreams. Whatever gets you through the night.

Stan Diego is one amongst many fallen angels in the musicbusiness. This singer and songwriter, who is still surrounded by a certain mystique, quit the scene after a short-lived and utterly tragic climax in his career. Never to return again, or so we thought. Because to anyone's surprise, he left this black period of self-loathing and depression behind, and moved into the small village of Tonatico (Mexico), to record a brand new album. Our antihero is back, and he is not alone. A search which will lead us, listeners, into a world of soulful popsongs, ectronics, beats and heartbreaking lyrics.

It's a very fine line between control and chaos and those who can consistently operate close to or on the line are considered geniuses whatever their discipline. Those who rush at the line or cross it are considered at best idiots and at worst, dangerous. My Tiny Circus is no stranger to the line, they flirt with the line and then, when the line is suitably smitten, they slyly caress it. Sometimes the line responds and sometimes their affections are spurned. It is a fickle line and they are inexperienced lovers. If sometimes they cross the line, it's only because they want to see what it looks like from the other side and are prepared for the consequences of our curiosity. Are they idiots or geniuses ? Neither...or possibly both. NEONBELLE August 2007 marks the month in which Maarten Besseling, Pien Feith and Jelte Heringa left behind the coziness of their homes to record an album in the rural area near the Belgian Lanaken. This undertaking was part of the IN A CABIN WITH series. Without a specific plan they left Utrecht with a van full of keyboards, synthesizers, a guitar, a banjo and microphones and headed for Belgium. In a small cabin in the middle of the woods the creative juices richly flowed and eight tracks emerged. Songs were written on the spot and Maarten recorded everything.

TOM TRAGO Tom Trago is part of the new school Amsterdam producers and an accomplished dj. Over the past years he has played many clubs and parties, both locally as internationally.
